I am preventing constipation by consistently taking nutritional supplements.
I am not sure what the cause was, but I suffered from constipation for about two or three months last year. I changed my eating habits, exercised, and got plenty of sleep, which improved things to some extent. However, I became busy again, making it difficult to maintain regular meals and exercise. As a second best option, I looked into nutritional supplements to prevent constipation and started taking them. After carefully researching and reviewing options, I selected two supplements and have been taking them consistently. Judging by the fact that I haven't had any constipation symptoms for several months, it seems they are definitely effective in preventing constipation.
The two supplements I am taking to prevent constipation are a supplement with indigestible maltodextrin, a water-soluble dietary fiber, as the main ingredient, and a prune supplement.
First of all, indigestible maltodextrin is a water-soluble dietary fiber made by processing corn starch, and it has the characteristic of reaching the intestines without being broken down in the small intestine. Indigestible maltodextrin helps prevent constipation by absorbing moisture in the intestines, increasing the volume of stool, and promoting bowel movements.
Another supplement I take to prevent constipation is a prune supplement. Prunes are dried plums that contain a complex blend of ingredients helpful for preventing and relieving constipation. The key components are dietary fiber and sorbitol. In particular, sorbitol helps prevent and alleviate constipation by increasing the amount of water in the intestines through osmotic action. The biggest cause of hard stools is a lack of water, and sorbitol is said to draw water into the intestines to keep the stool moist.
In addition, prunes contain probiotics that serve as food for beneficial gut bacteria, so they are said to be effective in preventing constipation by stably improving stool consistency and bowel movement rhythms.
I have been under a lot of stress and physically exhausted lately due to a heavy workload, and the constipation I developed last year occurred under similar circumstances. However, seeing as I haven't experienced any symptoms of constipation at all for the past few months since taking these two supplements, it seems they are definitely effective in preventing it. I plan to keep taking them consistently.
