The Ministry of Food and Drug Safety announced on the 5th that it has taken measures to suspend sales and recall peanut products in which the mold toxin 'aflatoxin' was detected in excess.

The products subject to recall are "Roasted Peanuts" manufactured and sold by the Daejeon-based food manufacturing and processing company "Jeil Sangsa." The products are available in 200g, 500g, and 1kg sizes. All have a expiration date of October 28, 2024.

Aflatoxin is a mold toxin that occurs frequently in cereals and nuts in hot and humid regions, and it is classified as a carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer. Excessive consumption can cause bleeding, diarrhea, and cirrhosis.
