What highly nutritious vegetable surpassing spinach with a perfect score of 100 out of 100?

Watercress?

Is it wild chive? The wild chive you eat in spring?

That's not it.. lol

It looks like watercress is available when I check on Opang.

Watercress, Chinese cabbage, amaranth, and beet leaves are also said to be good for the body.

I often eat modern dishes and cabbage, but cold noodle soup is unfamiliar to me.

Most nutritionists say that it is most important to consume a variety of vegetables with every meal.

If it's hard to find watercress, eat plenty of other leafy greens~

I think consuming quality food is really important~

The top choice selected by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is 'watercress.' In Korea, it is called mul-naeng, but it is a different plant from the watercress we know. Its origin is Europe.

Mul-naeng-i took the top spot, surpassing spinach and kale, which are known for their high nutritional content. In particular, it was the only vegetable to receive a perfect score of 100.

The recent vegetable ranking released by the CDC is based on an analysis of the nutritional density of foods. The CDC calculated nutritional density based on the daily recommended intake of 17 essential nutrients, including vitamins, minerals, and fiber.

According to the CDC report, watercress is rich in minerals such as calcium and iron. It contains components that can help prevent osteoporosis and anemia. Additionally, its vitamin A content is 20 times higher than that of lettuce. The journal 'American Journal of Clinical Medicine' also featured a study by researchers at Ulster University in the UK, discussing how the phenethyl isothiocyanate (PEITC) component of watercress has anti-cancer properties.

The vegetable that ranks second is Chinese cabbage. It received a nutrient density score of 91.9. Chinese cabbage includes bok choy and the cabbage commonly eaten in our country. Bok choy is rich in calcium and vitamin A, which help with bone health and immune function. Cabbage contains more folate and fiber than bok choy.

3rd place is Modern (89.2 points), 4th place is Beet Leaf (87 points). Spinach, which is often called a "superfood," scored 86.4 points and ranked 5th.

All vegetables selected as top-tier belong to the category of 'leafy greens.' The distinguishing feature of leafy greens such as watercress, Chinese cabbage, chard, beet leaves, and spinach compared to other vegetables is their significantly higher content of vitamins A, C, and K. Among vegetables, leafy greens are known to be highly nutritious foods.

The CDC rated five vegetables highly based on their nutrient density scores. However, the rankings of vegetables chosen by global food media and other organizations vary. The rankings differ depending on the criteria used.

Most nutritionists suggest that consuming a variety of vegetables at every meal is the most important. Since each vegetable contains different nutrients, including a diverse range in your diet is beneficial for health.
