"Too good to waste the broth"... What happens when you frequently mix rice with ramen and black bean noodles?After eating the noodles of Jjapagetti, it's a waste to just throw away the remaining black bean paste. I hesitate and end up mixing it with rice to eat. Leftover egg bits or green onions in ramen broth are also a waste. I put all the remaining rice into the bowl. High blood pressure increases the risk of stomach cancer... Exposed directly to salty broth

 

According to data from the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, there is advice not to eat rice mixed with soup or stew broth. Most soups and broths are salty. When combined with side dishes such as salted kimchi or pickled radish, it can lead to excessive sodium intake. This can damage the mucous membranes and raise blood pressure. According to the National Cancer Registration Statistics released in December 2023, there were 29,361 new cases of stomach cancer in 2021 alone. Consuming salty foods is one of the major risk factors. Hypertension is also significantly affected by salty foods that constrict blood vessels.

The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency also states that you should not immediately eat potatoes or sweet potatoes as dessert after eating rice. All three foods are high in carbohydrates, which can cause blood sugar levels to spike after a meal. If this eating habit persists, it can lead to weight gain and poor vascular health. It may also result in failure to prevent or manage diabetes. If you want to lose weight, eating a lot of sweet fruits as dessert is also not recommended. To manage blood sugar levels, it is helpful to eat vegetables first before meals, known as the 'reverse eating method.' Potatoes or sweet potatoes should be eaten appropriately when feeling hungry in the afternoon.

 

 

"What should I do about the saturated fat in the broth..."

 

Instant noodles are processed foods that are fried in oil and contain various additives. The broth may contain a high amount of saturated fat. Drinking the broth is equivalent to consuming fat along with salty ingredients. Saturated fat is one of the causes of obesity and cardiovascular diseases. Consuming it continuously can accumulate in the blood vessels, leading to hyperlipidemia (dyslipidemia) and, further, to arteriosclerosis, which narrows the blood vessels. This is why health authorities recommend leaving the broth.

 

Eat only a little rice even if you make rice... I like bananas for dessert.

 

So, what should you do with the ramen broth? Even if you eat it with rice, it's better to scoop out only a small amount of rice. You should leave some broth behind. Especially for middle-aged people at high risk of obesity, eating one bowl of ramen with a cup of rice is an excessive carbohydrate intake. For dessert, it is good to eat bananas, tomatoes, and vegetables that promote the excretion of salty components and are high in potassium. Dietary fiber helps reduce neutral fats and cholesterol in the body. There's no need to regret the salty broth. Even if you eat it, it's best to minimize it to prevent and manage high blood pressure and to prevent stomach cancer.

    그전엔 국물에 밥까지 말아 먹었는데...
    이게 혈압과 혈당을 올리는 주범이래서

      짜파게티나 짜장면은 꼭 밥을 말아서
      먹게 되더라구요.
      중국집 가서도 짜장면 먹으면 소스가
      아까워서 밥에 말아 먹고 했는데
      이제는 안먹어야겠어요.

      저도 가급적이먼잘 안 먹어요.
      미역국을 끓이는데  소금이 엄청 들어가야 맛을 낼수가 있는데  그후로 잘 안먹게되더라구요
