Why you should remember the number 200 for post-meal blood sugar

Methods for diagnosing diabetes include fasting blood sugar measurement, post-meal blood sugar measurement, and glycated hemoglobin testing.

Blood sugar measured two hours after a meal, with post-meal blood sugar referring to the blood glucose level measured two hours after eating.

A blood sugar level of 200 mg/dL or higher is diagnosed as diabetes, less than 140 mg/dL is considered normal blood sugar, and 140-199 mg/dL indicates impaired glucose tolerance. A level of 200 mg/dL or higher is diagnosed as diabetes.

Even if it is not above 200 mg/dL, you should not be completely reassured. Without continuous blood sugar control, it can progress to impaired glucose tolerance and diabetes at any time, and diabetic complications can also develop even from impaired glucose tolerance.

Monitor your blood sugar levels after meals and manage your blood sugar!
