I have worn glasses and contact lenses since I was young due to my nearsightedness and astigmatism, and my vision has deteriorated significantly, now reaching about -7.5 diopters, which is considered high myopia. About 15 years ago, my sister had LASIK surgery and told me it was like a new world, recommending I get LASIK too. At that time, I didn't have much financial stability, and I believed that aging would bring presbyopia anyway, and I also heard about the potential side effects of LASIK, so I dismissed the idea, thinking the surgery's safety wasn't guaranteed. However, as time went by, I started feeling that my glasses were heavy and my eyes became dry and irritated from contact lenses, and I began to regret not having had LASIK back then. Now, with presbyopia starting to develop, I feel quite uncomfortable. I know that LASIK cannot correct presbyopia, so I feel like there's no choice but to accept it. Still, I am contemplating whether it would be better to undergo LASIK now to correct my myopia. Should I consider having LASIK in my late 40s? Or is it better to just live with my current eyes?
