[Question] Are there any preventive measures for frequent herniated disc pain?
Since my school days, I have frequently experienced herniated discs after injuring my back while playing with friends. Back then, acupuncture at a Korean medicine clinic helped, but as I entered my mid-40s and needed to exercise, I started doing weight training and brisk walking regularly over the past few years. A few months ago, I experienced metatarsal pain, and the hospital told me that walking could worsen it, so now I do weight training about 3 to 4 times a week. However, when lifting heavy barbells or equipment during weight training, my lower back inevitably bears a lot of strain, and even when I try to be careful, I always end up with back pain afterward, often applying patches or visiting a Korean medicine clinic.ㅜ.ㅜ Still, I feel I can't avoid exercising, so I try to be cautious, but if you have any tips on how to prevent putting too much strain on my lower back during workouts, please share. For reference, I always wear a weightlifting belt and protective gear for my knees and elbows.
