Cervical cancer diagnosis process

Diagnosis of cervical adenocarcinoma in May 2020

Currently under follow-up observation after July surgery~~^^

  1. Talking about the importance of health check-ups.
  2. I had been postponing my health checkups due to a busy work life. Starting from January 2020, I began receiving weekly calls from the Health Management Association urging me to get a checkup. My work was extremely busy until May, so I refused and didn't answer the calls. This continued until March. Feeling very sorry, I scheduled my health checkup for mid-April, also adding an abdominal ultrasound and making the reservation for Saturday.
  3. Finally, the examination day ㅠ from the first test, it surprised me. During the abdominal ultrasound, a 8mm polyp was found in the gallbladder, and a CT scan was also performed, which made me feel gloomy about going to a large hospital ㅠ. Every time I get checked, polyps and nodules are visible in each organ, but fortunately, all the polyps were borderline. I finished the checkup with a gynecological examination.
  4. It's been less than five days since the check-up, but I received an urgent call from the Health Management Association asking me to visit. Something must be wrong.ㅠ
  5. I received the medical opinion and went to the gynecology department for a gynecological consultation.
  6. I was diagnosed with stage 3 dysplasia and immediately underwent surgery and a biopsy.ㅠ I also suffered from headaches, possibly due to anesthesia not agreeing with me.
  7. The biopsy results came out in less than three days. It was a very early stage of cervical adenocarcinoma, a miraculous recovery.
  8. I wondered if all I did was work hard looking only forward and couldn't properly care for the children.
  9. What did I do wrong to deserve such punishment? I also resented the fact that I was being punished. But I couldn't stay trapped in these feelings because I had my children, whom I loved dearly. So, I urgently went to Hwasun Jeondae Hospital.
  10. I submitted documents such as the medical opinion letter and underwent pre-surgery tests. The wait for the doctor's diagnosis felt like hell. No one else's worries mattered to me.
  11. Fortunately, the diagnosis was made very early enough to be treatable with surgery alone, so I don't need chemotherapy or radiation therapy—it's a stroke of luck.
  12. However, I was not at ease for five hours. The surgery involved removing the uterus and ovaries, and I also had to undergo surgery to remove the gallbladder.
  13. Seven holes were drilled into my abdomen, and the surgery went well. I thought I just had to recover, but I was mistaken. I experienced forced menopause and sudden menopausal symptoms. I had to overcome depression and pain on my own.
  14. I was hospitalized in a convalescent hospital that only treats cancer patients. There, I received another wound and comfort.
  15. When I came to my senses, I saw the children.
  16. I decided to exercise diligently, eat well, and live happily. As a result, it's already been three years. Although I still have residual symptoms, I feel very depressed when I think about what could have happened if I hadn't had a health checkup back then and had done it late. I am very grateful to the staff of the Health Management Association who actively encouraged me to get checked.
  17. And I am very grateful to my husband who cheers me on and takes care of me from the side.
  18. I hope everyone will never neglect their health check-ups.
