This is a review of mammotome treatment for breast tumor removal.

I found out I had a lump while having a breast exam.

The first hospital I went to recommended mammotome treatment right away, but I went to another hospital, and that hospital also said I needed mammotome treatment, so I ended up getting the surgery.

 

I felt a small lump the size of a grain of rice under my armpit, and since I had never had a breast ultrasound before, I decided to get one done.

There are several small lumps larger than 1cm on my left breast...!

At first, I had a mammotome treatment surgery right at the hospital. I was a bit confused when they told me to make a reservation.

Probably almost all women (especially Asians, most of whom have dense breasts) You may have symptoms such as lumps, cysts, or microcalcifications in your breasts.

There are some cysts that do not require removal and do not require immediate surgery. There are cases where a follow-up examination alone is sufficient, but if the shape is not good or the size is larger than 2 cm, mammotome treatment is often performed.

But when it actually happened to me, I was scared.

I had absolutely no knowledge about mammotome treatment and it was so sudden that it was difficult to decide on surgery right away, so I went to other hospitals.

But that hospital also came back with the same results, saying the shape wasn't good. I wasn't suspicious of the first hospital I went to, but since it's always a good idea to try several, I decided to have the surgery after seeing the definitive results.

 

After mammotome surgery, it is possible to go about your daily life without difficulty, but I was told that I would not be able to shower for about 3 days, so I scheduled my schedule to include Friday and a substitute holiday.

 

 

Mammotome involves making a 3-5mm incision in the skin and inserting a needle to remove the lump. There is virtually no scarring or bruising.

 

The mammotome treatment process

After confirming the surgical site once more with ultrasound -> anesthesia injection -> surgery -> hemostasis and finishing.

The surgery takes 15 to 20 minutes per side. It was.

Since you are inhaling it with an inhaler, it takes very little time. It took quite a while for the anesthesia to be administered and the bleeding to be stopped.

After stopping the bleeding, I was put on a pressure bandage and moved to the hospital room.

So it's not covered. It's almost completely out of pocket.

 

After the surgery, I received a hemostatic injection in the buttocks and a painkiller, Ringer's solution.

And the compression bandage was really uncomfortable. I've seen a lot of reviews saying that bandages are uncomfortable, but it was even more uncomfortable than I imagined.

One hand is holding a ringel It's uncomfortable, and I need to stop the bleeding at the surgical site. Lying face down with the pressure bandage on was really uncomfortable, and the pain from the bandage was worse than the pain from the surgery.

If you don't stop the bleeding properly, you may end up with a hematoma or bruise, so I held on somehow. It's a very strong compression bandage that looks like a corset. It was really suffocating.

 

The next day, I had the pressure bandage changed, but I complained that it was too uncomfortable.

They wrapped it around my shoulders like a one-shoulder dress. After changing the bandage and being hospitalized for 2 days and 1 night, I was discharged.

I went to get the stitches removed a week later.

During that time, I disinfected and applied a pressure bandage at home myself.

I bought a compression bandage separately from the one sold over-the-counter at the hospital and wrapped it.

 

 

Precautions after mammotome treatment

*Avoid lifting heavy objects for about 2 weeks.

*Do not sleep on the side where surgery was performed.

*No strenuous exercise

*No alcohol allowed

 

The final biopsy results were~ Fortunately, it was fibroadenoma.

The hospital said that mammotome treatment was simple enough that it could be considered a simple procedure, as many people were already using it. However, in my experience, it wasn't easy. While I'm currently scar-free and have no side effects, I had to worry about muscle pain, compression bandages, sleeping position, and maintenance, among other things, more than the actual surgery itself.

Regardless of age, a breast examination is absolutely essential.

Or it could reappear at any time, shrink or grow in size, or change shape.

So now I am getting regular breast examinations.

I strongly recommend that women get a breast examination even if they have no family history.
