(Question) I am concerned about how to treat flat warts
At some point, small, bumpy things started appearing on my face one by one, and as time went on, their number gradually increased. At first, I dismissed it as just a minor skin issue, but when I looked closely in the mirror, the size and shape were similar. After searching online, I suspected they might be flat warts. I feel like they are spreading, especially to my forehead and cheeks, so lately it keeps bothering me and is becoming stressful, even when I apply makeup.
So, I tried various things on my own to manage my flat warts. First, I tried applying patches specifically designed for flat warts, and I also consistently used an ointment recommended by the pharmacy. However, the patches didn't show any noticeable changes, and the ointment felt more irritating; my skin would sting and turn red after application. After using them for a few more days, I felt my skin was becoming more sensitive, so I eventually stopped using them.
I felt that managing it at home had its limits, so I seriously considered whether I should take the next step and get laser treatment. I often heard stories from people around me about having it removed with a laser. However, I also heard about scarring and recurrence, so I couldn't easily make a decision and kept hesitating.
In the meantime, an acquaintance shared their experience of having flat warts removed with acupuncture at a Korean medicine clinic, which sparked my interest. Since they mentioned that the treatment could be performed without leaving significant scars on the skin, I was referred and underwent a few sessions of acupuncture myself. The procedure itself wasn't as painful as I expected, and at the time, I felt like I was being properly cared for, so I had high hopes.
However, looking at the condition now, several months later, it seems difficult to say that it has completely disappeared. Although some parts have faded, small traces still remain, and I am actually worried because it seems to be appearing in new areas. Sometimes it feels like it has spread more than before, so lately, I feel heavy-hearted every time I look in the mirror.
I have tried using patches, applying ointments, and even receiving acupuncture treatment at a Korean medicine clinic, but my flat warts remain the same, so I am now confused about which method to choose. I am wondering if I should keep trying different approaches, or if getting laser treatment at a dermatology clinic is the right choice.
I am wondering if anyone has seen positive results from flat wart treatment.
I would also like to hear from those who received laser treatment about recurrence or scarring.
I would appreciate advice from those who have had similar experiences.
