Review of treatment for swelling that looked like a lump on the palm
I went to the dermatologist because I developed a small bump-like symptom on my palm.
A simple surgery was performed to remove a lump, and some of the removed tissue was used for staining tests.
The symptoms of the bump have been diagnosed as a hemangioma, and it is currently healing.
A small lump has appeared on my palm without any pain symptoms, so I did not notice it.
I happened to find out quite by chance and looked into it here and there, but I couldn't find out the exact cause.
Since there was no pain unless I squeezed hard, I thought it might be a corn on my palm.
After visiting the dermatology department and discussing the symptoms, an incision surgery was performed immediately.
After local anesthesia and a simple surgery, it finished faster than expected, and there was some pain at the surgical site, but it was not severe.
The surgery took less than 30 minutes including waiting time, and the removed tissue needs to be examined to determine the exact diagnosis.
So, first, the removal is done, and later, it is identified what the removed tissue was.
Palm surgery involved some pain from anesthesia, but more challenging was applying something like a bandage after disinfection.
No matter how carefully I try to stick it, due to the nature of the palm area, it kept falling off, making it quite uncomfortable for about a month.
Fortunately, there was no pain at the surgical site, so I was able to tolerate some discomfort.
After about a month and a half, I had the stitches removed, and even after that, I continued daily activities for about a week after disinfecting and applying a bandage.
The diagnosis I learned during the suture removal surgery is hemangioma, and it is said to be without any special symptoms.
I was informed that even after removal, there is a possibility of recurrence and swelling again later.
The wound has healed, but the surgical site is still visibly red, and there is slight pain when opening the palm, but I am now living with almost no significant inconvenience in my daily life.
