'Suwon family death' husband suspected of despair over hundreds of millions of won in investment losses

The police investigating the case of four family members, including husband, wife, and children, who died in an apartment in Suwon, have confirmed that the deceased husband was despairing over his inability to recover investments worth several hundred million won.

According to investigation authorities on the 11th, Mr. A, a man in his 40s who fell to his death from an apartment in Jang'an-gu, Suwon, around 4:30 a.m. on the 9th, sent a text message to someone around him the day before the incident regarding his situation. It is reported that this message contained lamentations about not being able to recover money he had lent to acquaintances.

The police interviewed A's acquaintances and others, securing a statement that he handed over 300 million to 400 million won to an acquaintance under the pretense of an investment.

At around 11 a.m. on the 10th, approximately 27 hours after identifying Mr. A's identity, the police entered Mr. A's house and found the bodies of his wife, in her 40s, B, and their teenage son and daughter. It is reported that there were signs of drowsiness on their necks.

The police received an initial verbal opinion from the National Institute of Scientific Investigation, which performed autopsies on the bodies of three people, including the wife and children, suggesting they died from suffocation due to neck compression. Based on the evidence from the scene and other circumstances, it is believed that Mr. A murdered his family members and then jumped from a building.
