A study has found that preferences for snack flavors are related to personality traits.
The research team at Gettysburg University in the United States conducted a survey of 1,629 adults. The participants consisted of 373 Chinese, 471 Germans, 400 Mexicans, and 399 Americans. The research team compared the snacks preferred by the participants and their personalities. Personality was broadly categorized into five types: openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism.
According to the comparative analysis, people who prefer sweet snacks tend to have a kind and emotional personality, while those who prefer salty snacks are often confident and extroverted.
People who enjoy sweet flavors value stable emotions and feel greater intimacy in their relationships with others. They tend to seek sweet snacks especially when under stress. The research team analyzed that they prefer sweet tastes to find emotional stability.
People who enjoy salty snacks are mostly rational and independent in personality. They tend to be organized and planned, responding quickly to situations. Those who prefer salty foods have a strong tendency to seek practical solutions rather than emotional comfort in stressful situations.
The research team analyzed that taste preferences reflect human psychological states and behavioral patterns. Dr. Brian Meyer, who led the study, said, "When we choose snacks, we don't just select based on taste; unconsciously, our personality is revealed," and added, "This research will play an important role in understanding the relationship between snacks and personality."
==========
Sweetness is intimacy
Salty taste is rational
If you mix sweet and salty flavors well,
It means becoming a person who is both intimate and rational.
