In June, I underwent a full open surgery lasting 10 hours in Seoul.

 

There was no place transferred by pure luck, so I didn't have to undergo chemotherapy or radiation therapy.

Maybe because my stomach was weak, I had stomach problems and vomited day and night for three days, suffering a lot..

I was hospitalized about a week longer than others, so I stayed at Seoul Asan Medical Center for three weeks before being discharged.

When it comes to convalescent hospitals, everyone thinks it's for the elderly, right? Well, it's not necessarily so, but...

Nursing homes and convalescent hospitals are completely different in nature, and cancer convalescent hospitals are specialized hospitals where only cancer patients can be admitted.

 

It is a hospital located between Dunsan Gallery and the department store in Daejeon, as well as Samsung Digital Plaza. The hospital is on the 5th floor, with floors 9, 10, and 11 also being part of the hospital.

 

There are two more cancer treatment hospitals in Daejeon, but they are women-only.

I saw that the bed is not a hospital bed but a hinoki cypress bed, and I also read reviews saying the food is served well.

The groom researched and chose this place for hospitalization.

After being hospitalized for a month and a half, I can now eat normally at about two-thirds of my usual intake, gradually returning to normal eating habits.

Since it was the children's vacation and I couldn't leave the children with my mother until the vacation, I was discharged.

While being here, I truly healed, controlled my eating, and ate well.

I learned how to manage cancer and the mindset needed to overcome it by talking with the patients who are with me.

 

Looking at the website, it's a hospital with a mission and vision, haha.

Usually, when it comes to cancer recovery hospitals, they target patients' personal insurance and recommend injections or treatments.

Here, they only recommend treatments that match the fixed cost for a one-night stay.

So, patients sometimes hear what other patients are saying and then say, I want to receive more of this, or I need this treatment more.

 

 

All the medical staff are very kind.

The two directors are very kind, and the nurses truly think from the patient's perspective.

Thinking together, minimizing discomfort as much as possible, and encouraging to overcome...

I am still visiting the outpatient clinic now, but I always feel grateful.

 

There are two directors, one from Western medicine and one from traditional Korean medicine, and the Western medicine director discusses most of the obstetric treatments with patients and determines the treatment methods.

The director of the Oriental Medicine Department is responsible for determining traditional medicine treatments and diet plans (including meal plans and herbal medicine).

 

 

This is a photo I took last Saturday when I visited the outpatient clinic; it's a picture taken at the 11th-floor entrance.

 

 

The 11th floor consists of the first visit center, hospital lobby, a place for visits, treatment rooms, outpatient infusion rooms, and more.

 

 

You can visit in the spacious lobby like the one in the left photo below, and you can also borrow books from the bookshelf next to it at any time.

The right photo shows the VIP room where outpatient patients receive injections.

 

 

The 9th and 10th floors are for inpatient rooms, patient exercise areas, and yoga spaces.

And since they are female patients, there is a space where skincare treatments are provided.

I was hospitalized on the 10th floor, and with a thick mattress and topper on the cypress wood bed, it was as comfortable as my home bed.

Isn't there really a difference between the hospital's stiff bed and this?

Other convalescent hospitals use hospital beds as they are, so sleeping arrangements may be uncomfortable.

It was made of cypress wood, so it emitted phytoncide, and it didn't feel like a hospital, which was nice.

 

 

 

 

And really important hospital food!!!

Here, since we are responsible for the diets of cancer patients, we prepare food as organically and environmentally friendly as possible.

Fresh salads are provided every morning, and we also select and serve really delicious fruits.

Most of the meals were satisfactory for me. Since there are many stomach cancer patients, I also adjusted my diet like other stomach cancer patients.

Starting slowly with porridge, then moving on to rice, and beginning to eat spicy foods.

 

Healthy juices are also provided, so if you eat while thinking of your health,

I get used to the taste of this too, so I end up eating it~~ haha
