If you're worried about skin peeling... apply this cream instead of sunscreen.

If you're concerned about skin burning from ultraviolet rays, it's good to apply not only sunscreen but also whitening cream.

Whitening cream helps prevent the skin from burning less after exposure to ultraviolet rays. When the skin is stimulated by UV rays, an enzyme called tyrosinase oxidizes tyrosine proteins in melanocytes. Tyrosine is converted into melanin pigment, which makes the skin appear darker, resulting in so-called 'tanned skin.'

The ingredients in whitening creams inhibit melanin pigment production. Whitening functional cosmetics cannot break down already formed melanin pigments, but they help prevent and reduce melanin production by ▲inhibiting tyrosinase, ▲preventing tyrosine protein oxidation, or ▲inhibiting the transfer of already produced melanin pigments to keratinocytes.

Skin cells that have already been colored with melanin pigment rise to the stratum corneum over approximately 30 days, and until the keratinized cells fall off, the skin color remains dark.

Applying whitening cream does not produce immediate results.

According to the skin's exfoliation cycle, the effects become noticeable about a month after application. Consistent use for over six months will clearly demonstrate the results.

Whitening functional cosmetics are most effective when used immediately after exposure to UV rays.

As previously explained, this is to prevent the process of melanin pigment formation after UV exposure or to block the melanin pigment formed in the basal layer from rising to the stratum corneum. It is best to apply sunscreen before and during going out, and on days with heavy sun exposure, to use whitening functional cosmetics in the evening. Since whitening functional cosmetics can lose their active whitening ingredients when directly exposed to sunlight, it is recommended to apply sunscreen over the whitening products if you need to reapply before going out.

Meanwhile, substances registered as whitening agents by the Korea Food and Drug Administration include four types of vitamin C derivatives (ascorbyl glucoside, ascorbyl tetraisopalmitate, ethyl ascorbyl ether, magnesium ascorbyl phosphate), niacinamide, arbutin, alpha-bisabolol, licorice extract, and licorice root extract.

Only products containing the proven effective amount for whitening can be labeled as "whitening functional cosmetics" after approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Cosmetics containing only other ingredients are unlikely to provide whitening effects.
