라식과 라섹 모두 엑시머 레이저를 이용하여 각막을 교정하는 방식으로 진행하는 수술입니다. 수술 시 이용하는 엑시머 레이저는 각막 조직을 태워 시력을 교정하는 레이저입니다. 다만, 라식과 라섹은 수술 과정과 회복 기간에 차이점이 있습니다. 라섹은 각막 상피를 분리한 후 엑시머 레이저만을 이용해 눈의 굴절 이상을 교정하는 수술입니다. 반면, 라식 수술은 엑시머 레이저를 사용하기 전, 상피를 분리하지 않고 각막 절삭기로 각막의 상피와 실질을 포함해 각막에 플랩(절편)을 형성합니다. 그다음, 각막을 옆으로 젖혀 노출된 각막 실질부위를 엑시머 레이저로 교정합니다.
