Couple missing while harvesting oysters on Haenam mudflats... found dead one after another

A couple in their 60s who went missing while harvesting oysters in the mudflats near Songji-myeon, Haenam-gun, Jeonnam, were found dead.

According to the Wando Maritime Police Station on the 3rd, at around 7:30 a.m., the body of A (63 years old, female) was found on the west coast of Galdu Port in Songji-myeon, Haenam-gun.

Wando Coast Guard received a report around 3 PM on the 1st that Mr. and Mrs. A had gone to harvest oysters and disappeared, and while searching the area, they found Mr. A about 2.5 km away from the presumed missing point.

Earlier, husband B (68) was also found dead around 4 p.m. the previous day while searching with a drone in the sea about 1 km southeast of Galduhang in Songji-myeon, Haenam-gun.

The Coast Guard stated that no other signs of injury or criminal suspicion were found on the bodies of the discovered couple.

The Coast Guard is investigating the exact circumstances of the accident, considering the possibility that the couple may have been involved in an incident due to sudden changes in the tide during the period when the tidal difference is most significant.
