A middle school student who provided emergency first aid by placing cookies in the mouth of a man who collapsed due to hypoglycemia received a commendation.

Incheon Metropolitan Office of Education announced on the 3rd that they awarded a commendation from the Superintendent of Education to Song Min-jae, a 15-year-old third-year student at Incheon Seongri Middle School, on the 2nd.

Mr. Song went to Daejeon World Cup Stadium on the evening of the 17th of last month at around 8:20 PM to watch the match between Daejeon Hana Citizen and Incheon United, and he rescued a man who had collapsed due to hypoglycemia. At that time, he was standing in line at a convenience store inside the stadium to buy something when he saw Mr. A, who was next to him, collapse.

Sergeant Song immediately shook Mr. A's shoulder to check his condition and confirmed that Mr. A was breathing. Sergeant Song understood that Mr. A, speaking in a slurred manner, said "Give me something sweet," and then took a chocolate snack, Pepero, from the display and put it into Mr. A's mouth.

Thanks to Mr. Song's first aid, Mr. A, who had barely regained consciousness, expressed his gratitude. After sitting on the stadium stairs for about 10 minutes to regain stability, he moved on. It is known that Mr. A, who usually suffers from hypoglycemia, temporarily lost consciousness due to dehydration symptoms.

Mr. Song came to Daejeon to support Incheon United at that time, and Mr. A was a home fan.

Mr. Song said, "I felt proud to be able to save a life through a small act of kindness," and added, "I hope that the education office and schools will continue to educate students so they can perform such small acts of kindness in the future." Attending the award ceremony on that day was Jeon Doo-soo, CEO of Incheon United. Former CEO Jeon stated, "I am proud that a football-loving fan responded well in an emergency situation," and added, "We will work harder to foster good character through football."

Superintendent Doseong Hoon said, "The courageous act of student Song Min-jae, who practiced learning in life, not only saved a person's life but also revived our warm hearts," and added, "We will continue to actively support safety education so that students in Incheon can grow into healthy citizens who live together with their neighbors."
