A man in his 40s who severely injured his sleeping girlfriend with a blunt object has been detained.

Jeju Western Police Station announced on the 12th that they have detained Mr. A, in his 40s, on charges of attempted murder.

Mr. A is accused of repeatedly assaulting his girlfriend's head with a blunt object and confining her for about three hours at her residence in Jeju City around 5 a.m. on the 10th.

It was understood that Person A detained the victim, who said "I need treatment," for about three hours and then later called 119 to report that his girlfriend had fallen on the first floor and injured her head.

The victim, who suffered a severe head injury due to Mr. A's crime, is receiving treatment at the hospital after undergoing suturing surgery.

Mr. A stated to the police that he became angry and assaulted the victim after hearing words they did not want to hear in their sleep.

The police, through an investigation of the victim, concluded that Mr. A had attempted murder with intent and changed the charges from 'special injury' to 'attempted murder,' applying for an arrest warrant.
