View moreThank you, Yoon Tae-young Hair & Dermatology Clinic in Cheongju, for the alopecia areata treatment![6]
I was taking a shower and looked in the mirror, and I was really surprised to see that my hair had fallen out. Since then, I've been taking brewer's yeast, so I assumed it must have gotten better and went about my life. However, when I visited the hair salon to get a cut, the owner mentioned that the alopecia areata on the back of my head was severe. When the owner held the mirror up to me, it was pure shock. So, I remembered a professor from Chungbuk National University and tried to make an appointment with him, but I was told that he had retired and opened his own clinic, so I decided to visit the newly opened Yoon Tae-young Hair & Dermatology Clinic. I checked on Naver to see if they are open on public holidays, and the clinic is open at 8 AM on May 1st. I arrived at 6:30 AM, but there are 10 people waiting. I waited for an hour when it was time for my appointment, and when I saw Professor Yoon Tae-young, he remembered that I had been treated at a university hospital before. His memory is truly amazing! Professor Yoon Tae-young explained everything in detail and said he would do his utmost to treat my alopecia areata effectively. Thank you, Professor Yoon Tae-young.

Does alopecia areata tend to recur frequently?[1]
I have experienced alopecia areata, so I am asking about this as well. It was behind my ears, and since my hair is fairly long, it covered it so it wasn't very noticeable. I have improved somewhat since treatment, but is it common for alopecia areata to recur frequently depending on one's physical condition? I am worried because I heard that it often appears in the same spot where it previously occurred. I would appreciate advice from those with experience.

I visited a dermatologist after being alarmed to discover a circular patch of hair falling out only in that area a few days after squeezing a pimple on my scalp. The diagnosis was alopecia areata caused by irritated hair follicles due to scalp issues, rather than aging or genetics. I was informed that since it is a medical condition, full recovery is possible with steroid injections. I received injections every two weeks for three months. About a month into treatment, hair began to grow back slowly, and the bald spots filled in starting from the second month. By the third month, my hair had recovered to a nearly normal state. I am very satisfied with the treatment as there has been no recurrence, and to avoid experiencing the same symptoms again, I am taking extra care to avoid irritating my scalp.

Review of Alopecia Areata Treatment at Maxwell Dermatology Clinic in Jongno, Seoul[2]
This is a review of Jongno Maxwell Dermatology Clinic. This dermatology clinic is already famous for its excellent hair loss treatment. I also visited Maxwell because of alopecia areata. I used to have severe seborrheic dermatitis. So, I had a lot of pimples on my scalp, and back then, I just absentmindedly scratched and touched them. Thinking there was pus inside, I squeezed them out with my hands. Pus came out and two or three strands of hair fell out, so I thought it would heal, but a few days later, I looked in the mirror and was absolutely shocked. There was a circular patch of hair missing only where the pimple used to be. I was so shocked that I rushed to the dermatology clinic the next morning. The director looked at the condition and They explained that my hair fell out because of damage to the hair follicles caused by scalp trouble. Actually, only the spot where the pimple was was round and red, but the director really reassured me, saying that it would definitely heal and that I shouldn't worry. They explained very well that while general hair loss is difficult to treat because it is caused by aging, alopecia areata is a medical condition, so it is covered by insurance, and hair will grow back if I get injections!! It's not typical hair loss, but anyway, I was so nervous because of the sudden onset of alopecia areata... I didn't know exactly when the alopecia areata started, and since I only found out after looking in the mirror, I was worried that I discovered it too late. I visited feeling nervous, wondering how to treat it and what to do if it spread to other areas. The director told me that he had seen many cases like this and explained in great detail how general hair loss differs from alopecia areata and how it is treated, so I felt confident! I was so grateful that they reassured me as a patient, telling me there was no need to worry because it was just due to a pimple. I thought to myself, "This is why this is called the holy land of hair loss." I received treatment right away that day. The treatment method was injections plus infrared therapy. The injection is given directly to the scalp where hair has fallen out; it stung a little, but it wasn't very painful. After getting the injection, I received infrared therapy for a short while, and the treatment was over in 5 minutes. There was no separate medicine. Instead, I visited a dermatologist regularly every two weeks for treatment. When I returned home after getting the injection and checked, I found that there was still some dried blood on my scalp, even though I had received follow-up care at the hospital. It was essential to check after getting treatment. I think it took about a month for hair to grow from my bare scalp. My hair started growing in little by little, and from the second month onwards, it grew noticeably. At first, my hair grew like grass. The empty space was filled like this. The treatment finished on the day the director told me I didn't need to come anymore. When I looked back at the documents I had for the medical expense claim at the time, I found that I received 9 injections over a period of three and a half months. If you receive a refund in the 14,000 won range, it is cheaper than you might think. They say that general hair loss is not covered by private health insurance because it is caused by genetics or aging, not a disease. The injection I received is Triamcinolone, and when I looked it up, it said it is a scar treatment injection. I heard it is also used for arthritis and styes. When I get the injection, new hair grows, but only that part sticks out. I didn't worry too much about it because I thought it was a relief that it healed right after the injection!! It was a bit of a struggle when it was this length, haha, but I managed by covering it up with my other hair. It was treated so well that my hair has fully grown out now, and since then, even when I get pimples on my scalp occasionally, I never touch them!! I had such great trust and satisfaction with Maxwell Dermatology because of this treatment that I even revisited later to have skin tags removed. If you have pimples on your scalp due to seborrheic dermatitis, absolutely do not squeeze or scratch them! If you are suffering from hair loss, I recommend Maxwell Dermatology!
