Iced green tea is a good antioxidant that helps reduce belly fat.

Sugars are carbohydrates that dissolve well in water and have a sweet taste.

Sugars include monosaccharides like glucose and fructose, as well as disaccharides such as sucrose and lactose. The World Health Organization (WHO) recommends consuming sugars within 10% of daily caloric intake.

It means to consume less than about 50 grams of sugar when taking in 2,000 calories a day.

Consuming more sugar than this can lead to 'sugar addiction.'

Consuming excessive sugar over a long period stimulates dopamine, which acts on the brain's pleasure center.

As this process repeats, tolerance to sweetness develops, leading to the craving for more sugars.

Consuming excessive amounts of sugars can lead to poor dental health, such as cavities, and increase the risk of various diseases including obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.

According to data from the Korea Food & Drug Administration, the season when sugar intake increases the most is summer.

In particular, sugar intake was high among adolescents aged 12 to 18.

Children consumed an average of 60.9 grams of sugars per day, with beverages (22.4g, including 13.4g from carbonated drinks) and ice desserts (9.0g) being the most significant sources.

Children aged 1 to 2 primarily consumed sugars through dairy products, while those aged 3 to 11 mainly ingested sugars through snacks, bread, and rice cakes.

All age groups except this age group were consuming the highest amount of sugars through beverages.

During the summer, ice cream consumption increases two to three times compared to other seasons, and one in three adolescents eats ice cream more than once a day, indicating a high frequency of intake.

However, for those aged 19 to 29, sugar intake decreased more in summer than in spring, which is believed to be due to an increase in the consumption of unsweetened iced coffee, such as black coffee, instead of carbonated drinks.

In other words, when you want to drink a refreshing beverage, you can choose sugar-free coffee or tea.

In relation to this, based on materials from American health and medical media such as 'Prevention,' we explored ways to reduce sugar intake and healthy summer drinks that quench thirst without increasing weight.

How to reduce sugar intake?

To reduce sugar intake during the summer, it is recommended to hydrate with cool water, sparkling water, or fresh fruits.

Consuming fruits can also supplement nutrients such as vitamins and minerals.

When eating bingsu at cafes or similar places, ordering with less condensed milk, sweet red bean, and other toppings is also a way to reduce sugar intake.

Condensed milk contains 26 grams of sugar per 50 ml and has 180 calories.

Sweet red bean paste contains 5.5 grams of sugar per spoon and has 30.9 calories.

When you crave a carbonated drink, prepare a cold sparkling water and add fruits like lemon slices to enhance the flavor and aroma.

What are good summer drinks for weight control?

Iced green tea not only prevents cancer and heart disease but also contains catechins, antioxidants that help reduce belly fat.

Drinking a glass before exercise increases fat burning efficiency during aerobic exercise.

Water with added fragrance = If you want to lose weight, you should drink a lot of water. It not only helps balance body fluids but also provides a sense of fullness, helping you eat less.

If plain water is boring, try the refreshing scent of herbs and tangerines.

Add the original vanilla flavor.

Ice peppermint tea = Not only does it provide a refreshing feeling in summer, but it also helps to lose belly fat.

Peppermint (mint) enhances the stomach's fat processing ability and helps digest high-fat foods like burgers and steaks more quickly.

Then, it is possible to prevent the formation of belly fat.

Pineapple frappe = When making a cold beverage called frappe with ice, probably add a spoonful of sesame oil.

The good fatty acids included here help reduce belly fat. The bromelain enzyme found in pineapple breaks down proteins, aids digestion, and helps reduce belly fat.

Watermelon smoothie is a good way to replenish fluids, as long as it is not a sorbet-like smoothie with added sugar.

In particular, watermelon is an ideal low-calorie ingredient for smoothies.

It is not only rich in moisture but also abundant in nutrients such as lycopene and arginine.

Arginine, a type of amino acid, helps reduce body fat and increase muscle mass.
