When bitten by mosquitoes, it can cause itching and swelling, as well as transmit various infectious diseases. Spraying insecticide can repel or kill mosquitoes, but it contains various chemical ingredients, making frequent use undesirable. Here are some methods to repel mosquitoes without using insecticides.

 

Growing plants that mosquitoes dislike

Growing fragrant herb plants helps repel mosquitoes.

Plants that mosquitoes dislike include peppermint, lavender, basil, and lemon eucalyptus. If growing plants is difficult, using a diffuser or room spray containing herbal scents, or lightly applying herbal oils behind the ears or on the wrists, are also good methods.

 

Using cinnamon

Mosquitoes also dislike the spicy aroma unique to cinnamon. Therefore, boiling cinnamon tea at home or mixing cinnamon-infused water with ethanol and spraying it like a spray is effective in repelling mosquitoes. Additionally, placing cinnamon sticks in a mesh and hanging it by the window can serve as a natural mosquito repellent, preventing mosquitoes from entering the house.

 

Take a shower immediately when you sweat.

Mosquitoes are attracted to moisture and carbon dioxide, and sweat produced by our bodies is damp and contains carbon dioxide. Staying sweaty is essentially the same as attracting mosquitoes. Therefore, if you sweat, you should wash immediately, and especially before going to bed, taking a light lukewarm shower can prevent mosquitoes from approaching.

 

Turning on the fan

Mosquitoes are lightweight and fly slowly, making them highly affected by the wind. Turning on a fan can disrupt their flight, preventing them from entering the house, and also helps disperse their scent.

 

Removing stagnant water

Mosquitoes mainly enter from outside, but occasionally they breed and live in damp places where water collects indoors. Therefore, it is recommended to check if there is any standing water in the bathroom, kitchen, or around potted plants, and remove the water.
