"Do you rinse immediately after brushing?"... When mouthwash becomes toxic to teeth

Some experts also recommend waiting about 30 minutes after brushing before using mouthwash for freshness. This guideline is consistent with the recommendations of the UK NHS (National Health Service). Using mouthwash containing fluoride can help prevent cavities, but it is advised not to use it immediately after brushing. This is because mouthwash can wash away the concentrated fluoride residue from toothpaste on the teeth. According to the guidelines, after using fluoride-containing mouthwash, food intake should also be limited for 30 minutes.

Convenient mouthwash, use it properly

The Korean Dental Association states that even a convenient mouthwash can be harmful if used improperly. According to the association, using mouthwash every time after brushing can cause tooth discoloration, so experts recommend avoiding the use of mouthwash immediately after brushing.

Since the alcohol content in mouthwash can remain in the mouth and cause dryness, people with dry mouth should avoid using it. Holding mouthwash in the mouth for a long time can cause pain and mucosal damage, so it should not be held for more than 2 minutes. Children and the elderly with mouth sores or weakened oral mucosa should refrain from use.
