Is sore throat contagious?

I am very worried because I think I recently caught a sore throat.
I went to the hospital because I had a sore throat and difficulty swallowing, and I was diagnosed with pharyngitis.

The doctor prescribed medication and told me to rest well at home.

What I am worried about is that I heard it can be contagious as a sore throat. 

Especially when spending time with family or friends, just in case
I am cautious about potentially infecting others with pharyngitis.

2. If it spreads, I am curious about the ways in which sore throat transmission occurs.
   Can it be transmitted through needles or air?
   
   
3. Are there any preventive measures I can take to prevent infection?
   For example, I want to know which measures, such as wearing masks and washing hands, are effective.

Getting a sore throat is really uncomfortable and makes me worry a lot.
