Is it varicose veins?

Is varicose veins hereditary? My mother had surgery for it. But when I look at my legs, the blood vessels are very visible compared to others. Currently, the blood vessels are not protruding, but I keep worrying about it. Sometimes I get cramps when sitting. The numbness mainly occurs in my right leg, and both legs tend to swell. I wonder if these symptoms are caused by varicose veins.
