Is it possible to extend even short nails?

Maybe because I have a habit of biting my nails, my nails are quite misshapen, and since I cut them very short, the nail bed is really exposed. In this case, is it still possible to get a nail extension?

I'm still too shy and embarrassed to show my hands, so I haven't had my nails done at a shop yet.

I think extending it might help fix habits and routines, and I also want to try having pretty nails at least once^^
