형을 잃은 슬픔이 엄청나겠어요. 잘 견뎌내고 이겨냈으면 좋겠네요.
A single survivor, walking steadily, who doesn't know how they survived.
The airplane crashed. I have no idea how I got out or how I survived.
One passenger miraculously survived after an Air India passenger plane crashed shortly after takeoff in Ahmedabad, the largest city in western India. All 241 passengers, including two pilots and ten cabin crew members, died, and casualties continued to occur at the crash site, with an estimated minimum of 269 victims.
According to The New York Times (NYT) and Hindustan Times in India, the only survivor of the Air India passenger plane crash on the 13th (local time) is Vishwashi Kumar Ramesh, a 38-year-old British Indian. In footage reported by local media, he limped towards an ambulance with bloodstains on his white shirt immediately after the accident and said, "I got out of the plane." He sustained injuries to his face and other areas but is in stable condition.
Lamees visited India with her brother to meet her family and had an accident. He was sitting in seat 11A on the accident passenger plane. This seat is in the first row of economy class and closest to the emergency exit. Her brother, Ajay Lamees, who was flying with her but sat in a different seat, died.
Aviation experts agree that the fact that only one person survived the accident is an "unexplainable stroke of luck." Assistant Professor Gai Grafton of Cranfield University’s Department of Aeronautics and Environmental Science in the UK told the BBC that "modern passenger aircraft are designed to withstand crashes, so there are usually many survivors or, in severe cases, no survivors at all. Seeing only one survivor is really rare," and speculated that "Lameshi's seat may have been ejected from the plane during the crash." Former U.S. Federal Aviation Administration safety inspector David Sosi told CNN that "the seat where the survivor was sitting was just below the wing reinforcement, so it might have been relatively sturdy when the aircraft hit the ground."
There is only one survivor from the airplane crash.
