Should I cut ties with someone with schizophrenia..? Does anyone have a friend with schizophrenia?

I have a very precious friend.

How many years have we known each other?

 

We have shared many good memories and deep friendships.

However, I recently found out that my friend was diagnosed with schizophrenia.

 

Honestly, at first, it was really shocking.

Since I didn't know much about schizophrenia, I looked up information on the internet.

 

After hearing that schizophrenia is a very frightening illness and that it can be dangerous to those around me, I started to feel a little anxious myself and began to wonder how I can maintain this friendship without cutting off contact with someone with schizophrenia in the future.

 

My friend is receiving treatment, and although their condition is sometimes not good,

He is usually a really kind and considerate person.

However, sometimes I find it difficult to understand my friend's words or actions, and I also don't know how I should respond. As these situations repeat, my feelings of anxiety and fear seem to grow more and more inside me.

 

Actually, I'm wondering if it's right to keep my distance from that friend these days.

I'm wondering whether I should continue to support them by staying by their side without completely cutting off contact with schizophrenia.

Is there anyone who has had a similar experience to mine? Please tell me whether it is right to continue maintaining my friendship with this friend or if I should cut ties with schizophrenia for my own peace of mind.
