Why shouldn't you give motion sickness medication to infants?

I was going to give it to a child with severe motion sickness, but my friend said, "I heard that you shouldn't give motion sickness medication to infants."

So... but she's very prone to motion sickness... is it okay to give it to her? She's 6 years old...
