[Red Champ][Blue Champ] Do you know about cross-administration and simultaneous administration?
Hello. This is Sunja 🤗
Until the recall was announced, our daycare always kept red Champ and blue Champ fever reducers as shown below.
I really hope they release a proper fever reducer again, but I wonder if it's too difficult to regain the trust that has been lost.
Since the recall chaos, my child hasn't had a fever, so I don't have any antipyretics on hand, but I think I would have children's antipyretics like Bufufen or Tylenol granules.
Nevertheless, the reason I want to introduce the red champ and blue champ is to inform you about one of the methods for taking ibuprofen and acetaminophen fever reducers.
Because it is possible to apply sufficiently using alternative antipyretics.
When my child was about one year old, he had a high fever. It reached 40 degrees Celsius... Even after giving him antipyretics, the fever did not go down, and even if it did, it only dropped within 0.5 degrees? We monitored for four hours while administering the medication, but the fever did not subside, so we eventually took him to the emergency room of a tertiary hospital. After receiving an antipyretic injection, his body temperature dropped to around 38 degrees Celsius, and only then did we return home. However, shortly after arriving home, his temperature spiked again. Using the antipyretic administration method provided by the hospital at that time, the fever was brought under control.
Fever reducers of the same class should be taken with a 4-6 hour interval. There is a method to take fever reducers from two different classes. It involves alternating the two classes of fever reducers every 2 hours, which ultimately results in taking one class of fever reducer every 4 hours.
However, this involves taking two different medications simultaneously.
Administer both series of medications simultaneously according to the appropriate dosage. Then, ensure a 4-6 hour interval between doses! Doing so reliably helps to quickly reduce high fever. However, caution is necessary because hypothermia can occur. Since my child tends to develop a frightening 40°C fever, when I gave both antipyretic medications at the same time, the child's temperature dropped by about 2-3°C. Although hypothermia has never occurred, I closely monitored the child's condition without leaving their side at any moment.
The method of taking medications together is entirely up to the parents' judgment. This message is written to let you know that such an option exists, so I hope you do not feel compelled to apply it unconditionally.
A good method to reliably reduce high fever, in my case, is to apply it only when the fever exceeds 39 degrees Celsius, when the fever does not subside even after taking an antipyretic from the same category, and if multiple medications are taken simultaneously, to keep an eye on the child without losing sight of them.
If you hope for Korea to become a safe place for food and medicine, I will end here!
