Otitis externa treatment review — Otitis externa caused by using earphones and ear picks
This is a review of the treatment for acute otitis externa, which I suddenly contracted.
My ears were so itchy that I picked at them a lot... and I think the cause was using different earphones than the ones I usually use.
It seems it took about 10 days to 2 weeks to fully recover from otitis externa, and I am now completely cured.
The symptoms of otitis externa are
Unusually, my ears didn't hurt at all.
Instead, my ears were really itchy.
My ears were itchy, so I wondered if I had a lot of earwax.
I also frequently removed earwax with an ear pick.
Honestly, I touched it a lot with my hands as well.
After a few days, a little moisture started to form in my ears.
One day, I woke up and looked at my pillow and saw a yellow stain on it.
There was pus.
Turns out it was all pus from the ear...
The inside of my ear rapidly deteriorated as the fluid turned into yellow pus.
My ear doesn't hurt, but maybe it's because of the moisture from the discharge.
My ears were ringing and it sounded like the wind, so I suddenly got scared.
As I tried to gently wipe away the discharge inside my ear
Hardened fluid also came out like a scab.
The inside of my ear was red and swollen.
It was typical symptoms of otitis externa, such as swelling, discharge, scabs, itching, and ear fullness.
So I ended up going to the hospital and receiving treatment for otitis externa.
The reason my ears itched was because I usually use open-type earphones
It was a time when I hadn't been using in-ear earphones for very long.
Since the silicone part of the earphone is designed to block the entrance of the ear in a circular shape,
My ears felt so blocked, it was really stuffy and itchy.
So I kept adjusting my earphones and fiddling with them a lot with my hands.
There were so many reviews about people getting otitis externa after using the Buds Pro.
I visited the ENT clinic after wireless earphones came out
They told me not to use it at all, saying there are so many people receiving treatment for otitis externa.
By doing this Start treatment for otitis externa did
First of all, with a device like suction Removal of earwax and discharge cast I did
It didn't hurt, and it felt like it took about 3 minutes, but those 3 minutes felt much longer than I expected.
It seems there was that much inflammation inside the ear.
Applying medicine and infrared physical therapy I'll receive it.
It was oozing and the skin inside my ear was damaged, so I was also prescribed ointment.
I was prescribed ear drops and a 3-day supply of medication taken twice a day.
They said it is just simple inflammation right now, but to come back if it doesn't get better, and
They simply told me to be careful with earphones and not to pick my ears from now on.
I thought I would get better quickly after taking the medicine, but I didn't get better even after finishing it all...?
Pus kept coming out of my ear.
As the discharge hardened, scabs continued to form.
It was the rainy season at the time, so it was humid and the discharge didn't go away quickly.
So I went back to the ENT clinic to get treatment for otitis externa, and
It's because the skin gets damaged and damp, turning into a fungal environment.
That is why the sticker came out.
The skin inside the ear is just like the skin on the face.
I heard that once pus starts to ooze out, it can continue until the skin recovers.
I received pus removal and infrared therapy one more time.
I thought I would get better quickly if I took medicine like a sore throat, but
What I realized while treating otitis externa was that taking medicine doesn't mean it gets better immediately.
I went to the ENT clinic one more time after that, and a total of three times.
And I realized that if the foreign object removal is complicated, the hospital bill can be quite high...

The most important thing when being treated for otitis externa is to absolutely never touch your ears!!
The ENT doctor strongly advised me
Even when pus and scabs formed, I didn't touch them with my hands and only cleaned the surface with sterilized tweezers.
Since then, I haven't used cotton swabs, let alone ear picks.
Once I got otitis externa, I became so scared that I absolutely never clean my ears anymore.😂
I also switched to open-type earphones, and I don't use them for long periods of time.
While treating otitis externa, I realized that it is important to avoid touching the ears as much as possible.
