Worries about herbal medicine and the digestive system

My mother is taking herbal medicine she prepared herself for gastrointestinal issues.

I usually have stomach problems, but I just take the medication as prescribed. I think herbal medicine might have some significant side effects, so I'm a bit worried. What is the likelihood of side effects related to the digestive system from herbal medicine? If my stomach is not good, should I definitely stop?
