Treatment review for brain lesion/stroke disability

Treatment review for brain lesion/stroke disability

I am leaving a review about my parents' treatment and care for brain lesion disability.

First, the stroke occurred in my father in his late 50s.

After a family gathering and a simple dinner, I suddenly felt my leg go numb and my left arm weaken.

They casually finished their meal, got into the car, and as they looked around, they started to show increasing symptoms of a stroke.

I was exhausted even in the vehicle, but sitting down helped me recover some strength, although my condition didn't improve and actually worsened, so I finally arrived at the emergency room of the general hospital.

The emergency room was so crowded with patients that it was difficult to even get in.

While waiting in the emergency room, they asked how I came here, and I said it looked like a stroke.

Immediately, a significant amount of blood was drawn and blood pressure was measured.

The medical bed was immediately provided, and an emergency critical patient call was made, leading to the patient being transferred directly to the emergency intensive care unit.

The neurology and emergency room doctor has arrived, and the symptoms of weakness in the arms and legs have worsened.

In the morning, the neurology and emergency room doctors examined her and found the paralysis symptoms and condition to be abnormal, so she went back for another MRI.

In this MRI, a diagnosis of cerebral infarction and left paralysis was made, and the patient was transferred to the neurocritical care unit where they received medication treatment for about four days.

They said surgery is impossible because the brain blood vessel is narrow and blocked.

After two weeks in the intensive care unit, I was transferred to a general ward and began rehabilitation therapy.

Due to paralysis on the left side, I relied on a wheelchair and a guardian for mobility.

Walking has significantly improved during treatment, and the general hospital recommended finding a rehabilitation hospital for long-term treatment.

I heard that the rehabilitation period at general hospitals is also limited.

I decided on a rehabilitation hospital and was discharged after one month.

In the rehabilitation hospital, we mainly focused on activating paralyzed limb muscles and educating patients on how to use their muscles.

The cognitive, language, and neural areas were not injured, so recovery was relatively quick.

Treatment progressed well at the rehabilitation hospital, and since recovery was possible for daily life, the patient was discharged after two months.

Currently, I am only receiving prescriptions for large hospitals, and through personal rehabilitation exercises, I have significantly improved my physique and increased my muscle strength.

He experiences some difficulty living with his left hand, but walking and running are gradually becoming possible.

This is the end of my parents' experience with stroke symptoms, treatment, and caregiving.

---------------------------------------------------------

There is a family history, and during health checkups, symptoms of hypertension (around 130 to 160) were present.

Every year during health check-ups, only the findings are mentioned, and there was no mention of needing to visit the hospital for diagnosis or medication.

Ultimately, the normal range is 80 to 120, but the ignorance that thought it was slightly high caused the issue.

What I realized while being in the hospital is that no one else is responsible for your health.

I think that if you follow the body care guidelines provided by the hospital, some level of prevention might be possible.

Members, please take care of your health.

Have a great day~~~
