Caution for 'hair mites' in the fall... Visit the hospital if black scabs appear
The Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency installs tick collectors in areas where people are likely to come into contact, such as fields, waterways, and grasslands, and publicly releases the monitoring results on their website every week.
There are a total of 8 species of hair mites that transmit Tsutsugamushi bacteria domestically. Last year, active scrub typhus mites were prevalent in the southern and some northern regions, while in the central and western areas, Leptotrombidium deliense was more common.
It is a disease caused by infection from larval ticks carrying the Tsutsugamushi bacteria. Approximately 6,000 patients occur annually, with an increase in cases particularly in October and November when larval tick populations rise.
If bitten by a tick, symptoms such as fever, muscle aches, lymphadenopathy, and rash with spots may appear within 10 days, along with the formation of a black scab (scab) at the bite site. Therefore, if you notice a tick bite mark after outdoor activities or develop symptoms such as fever or rash within 10 days, you should visit a healthcare facility.
Commissioner Ji-Young Mi emphasized, "During the harvest season and autumn foliage period, the likelihood of contact with ticks may increase, so exposure to risky environments should be minimized to prevent scrub typhus." She also stressed, "When working in agriculture or engaging in outdoor activities, it is advisable to wear long-sleeved shirts and long pants to avoid tick bites."

.......
Six years ago, I was bitten by a mite called tsutsugamushi.
I have difficult memories.
Mom went to Seongmyo at the oxygen plant and there is a chestnut tree with chestnuts.
I think I got bitten by a tick while picking berries.
The symptoms did not appear immediately.
Most say it appears after about a week.
I appeared after fifteen days.
I thought I had a cold because the symptoms were similar to a cold.
There is no road, and I also have hives on my face.
I went to Jun General Hospital and was told I have tsutsugamushi disease.
I reported it to the health center as a legally notifiable infectious disease.
Please do not wear slippers or sandals when visiting the graves.
Please wear long pants.
Full-length pants are also dangerous.
