Gyeonggi Health Research Institute issues 'alert' for rapid increase in influenza infections... detection rate more than six times higher
There are really many students with the flu at my daughter's school.
Symptoms include high fever (above 38°C), dry cough, sore throat, as well as respiratory symptoms, headache, muscle aches, fatigue, and loss of appetite. If you notice any symptoms, please seek medical attention promptly.
Taking medication or receiving IV fluids makes the pain less and helps it pass.
If you're in a crowded place and haven't been vaccinated yet, get a flu shot~
Be careful of colds in the cold weather~~
In Gyeonggi Province during winter, the influenza virus detection rate in December has increased more than sixfold within a week, prompting caution.
The Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment announced on the 22nd that the detection rate of influenza viruses in influenza tests conducted on respiratory symptomatic patients at three sample surveillance medical institutions within the province surged from 4.0% (1 out of 25 people) in the second week of December to 25.0% (5 out of 20 people) in the third week.
Sample surveillance medical institutions refer to healthcare facilities that participate in sample surveillance by collecting data and reporting to the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency in order to predict and prevent the spread of infectious diseases. Three institutions within the jurisdiction have been designated: Kwonnae Clinic, Bomsos Pediatric Clinic, and Sangdong Seoul Family Medicine Clinic.
The influenza viruses detected in this survey are A(H1N1)pdm09 and A(H3N2), both of which are type A. Influenza, commonly called the flu, is an acute respiratory disease caused by infection with the influenza virus (types A, B, C, D).
It is primarily transmitted through droplets from infected patients and can be treated with symptomatic therapy or antiviral agents. The main symptoms of infection include high fever (above 38°C), dry cough, sore throat, respiratory symptoms, as well as headache, muscle aches, fatigue, and loss of appetite.
A representative from the Gyeonggi-do Institute of Health and Environment emphasized, "In preparation for the potential increase in influenza outbreaks during the winter season, prompt vaccination in group facilities such as childcare centers, schools, and nursing homes is necessary."
