부르펜 많이들드시는군요. 저희집은 맥시부펜입니다.
Our fever reducer at home is Children's Brufen Syrup.
At home, I now have various fever reducers, but I didn't have them at first.
The most commonly used fever reducer among these is children's Brufen syrup.
At first, I was 고민 about which fever reducer to keep as an over-the-counter medication, and the phrase "medications should be left to the pharmacist" came to mind, so I visited the pharmacy to ask.
The pharmacist's pick is the children's Brufen syrup that our kids are currently taking.
They say it's the most commonly used fever reducer and pain reliever in the country.
It was in syrup form, so it was easy for the child to take.
I believe the most important thing when taking medication is the dosage.
Taking Brufen syrup with the wrong dosage increases the risk of side effects, so I need to check more carefully.
Ibuprofen 20mg is included in 1ml of Brufen syrup.
The typical single dose for children is
11-14 years old: 200-250mg (10-13ml)
7-10 years old: 150-200mg (8-10ml)
3-6 years: 100-150mg (5-8ml)
1-2 years old: 50-100mg (3-5ml)
Children should take the medication 3 to 4 times a day after meals according to the above dosage, and for children weighing less than 30kg, the dose should be adjusted so as not to exceed the maximum daily dose of 500mg (25ml).
Storage method
It is recommended to discard the children's Brufen syrup stored as an over-the-counter medication after 4 weeks of opening and to purchase a different medication.
Since medications have expiration dates, you should be careful not to take degraded drugs.
Additionally, it should be stored at room temperature, avoiding heat, moisture, and direct sunlight.
Children's Brufen syrup can currently be purchased at convenience stores and pharmacies.
Children's Brufen syrup is also designated as an over-the-counter medication, so you can conveniently purchase it 24 hours a day at your nearest convenience store.
Therefore, if a child suddenly develops a fever or complains of pain at night, you can visit a nearby convenience store to purchase what you need.
There are two main side effects.
The most common side effect is gastrointestinal discomfort.
Sometimes, people experience stomach pain or indigestion after taking medication.
It is best to eat a meal before taking the medication.
If the stomach disorder is severe, I recommend taking a syrup from the acetaminophen family rather than Buphen syrup.
Other side effects include hypersensitivity reactions.
If you develop hives, swelling, and itching after taking medication, you should stop taking it and visit the nearest hospital.
Since severe cases can lead to shock, check for allergic reactions when first taking Brufen syrup.
Generally, children's Brufen syrup is not administered to infants under 6 months old.
In this case, it is recommended to take medications from the acetaminophen class.
It is important not to take it for more than 5 days without the instructions of a doctor or pharmacist.
What are the types of antipyretics?
The most famous product is definitely BluePen Syrup (the pharmacist's recommendation was not for nothing).
The ingredient contained in Brufen syrup is ibuprofen, which has excellent fever-reducing and pain-relieving effects.
The well-known product in the acetaminophen family is children's Tylenol suspension, and lastly, the children's fever reducer MaxibuPen, which contains dexibuprofen, a component unfamiliar to the general public.
If the child's fever doesn't go down even after taking an antipyretic, there's nothing more nerve-wracking.
In case of such situations, they tell you to mention it when purchasing antipyretics at the pharmacy or when the hospital prescribes them.
If the fever does not subside 1 to 2 hours after taking an antipyretic, taking an additional antipyretic with a different ingredient is a method of cross-administration.
For example, if you have already taken the main ingredient of Maxibuphen, dexibuprofen, or the main ingredient of Bupufen, ibuprofen, then you are additionally cross-administering acetaminophen-based children's Tylenol suspension or Champ syrup.
It is safe to take the second medication with a different ingredient at least 2 hours after taking the first medication.
If children have taken the main ingredient acetaminophen in the form of Children's Tylenol suspension or Champ syrup first, then after 2 hours, they should take additional medication such as Brufen syrup containing ibuprofen or Maxibuphen containing dexibuprofen.
The most important thing is that ibuprofen and dexibuprofen are in the same class of ingredients, so they must never be taken interchangeably.
Acetaminophen + Ibuprofen = OK
Acetaminophen + Dexibuprofen = OK
Ibuprofen + Dexibuprofen = NO
When my child is sick, I can't help but feel like I want to be sick in their place, and my heart just breaks.
Not being in pain is the best, but in case of emergencies, it seems to be a good idea to prepare thoroughly and learn the basic information.
