A one-degree increase in body temperature increases biochemical reactions by about 10%, boosting metabolism. Improved blood circulation accelerates fat breakdown. Foot baths also relieve stress. This is because they suppress the sympathetic nervous system, which is activated during stress. When the sympathetic nervous system is suppressed, the brain releases pain-relieving endorphins, reducing the sensation of pain.
