Possibility of hand-foot-mouth disease transmission in adults

Today, I want to share my unexpected experience with hand-foot-mouth disease. I never thought I would catch the disease, which I thought only children got, but as an adult, I ended up with it. Here's the funny story beginning now!

Hand, foot, and mouth disease? What is that? Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a viral illness that mainly affects young children. It causes small blisters to form on the hands, feet, and inside the mouth, along with a fever. The primary causes are coxsackievirus and enteroviruses, and these viruses are extremely contagious!

Do adults get hand-foot-mouth disease too? One day, my adorable nephew caught hand-foot-mouth disease, and I ended up taking care of him as well. Thinking, "I'm an adult, I should be fine!" I played with my nephew, but after a few days, strange symptoms started to appear on my body.

Symptoms and treatment process

  1. Initial symptoms: At first, I felt sluggish and started to develop a fever. I thought, "Oh, it's just a cold!" But soon after, my throat became sore and scratchy. I thought, "Maybe I caught a cold," and I drank plenty of water diligently.
  2. Skin rash: About two days after developing a fever, small blisters started to appear on my hands and feet. I was surprised and thought, "What is this?" and I noticed that they had also formed between my toes! Suddenly, I thought, "Oh, could this be hand-foot-and-mouth disease?"
  3. Hospital visit: When I went to the hospital, the doctor immediately said, "It's hand-foot-and-mouth disease." He told me that adults can also get it and comforted me. There is no special treatment, only antipyretics and painkillers were prescribed.
  4. Recovery process: The blisters were itchy, but I held back from scratching for fear they would worsen. I kept them clean and careful not to let the blisters burst. After about 1 to 2 weeks, the blisters gradually disappeared, and my body became healthy again.

Prevention methods for hand-foot-and-mouth disease in adults To prevent hand-foot-and-mouth disease, wash your hands frequently and avoid contact with infected people. Especially when taking care of young children, you should be more careful, right? Be always cautious, as it can happen to you just like me if you're not careful!
