Cold water constricts blood vessels, which can put strain on the heart. Drinking cold water can lower body temperature and weaken immunity, making one more susceptible to various illnesses. When drinking cold water, the temporary contraction and subsequent relaxation of brain blood vessels can cause headaches. Especially for the elderly with poor circulation, heart disease patients, and those with hypertension, caution should be exercised when consuming cold water.
