Skin cyst surgery review and cyst location - Do not ignore pimples
What is a skin cyst?
Location of the cyst
Surgery review
I have had a protruding lump on my back for a very long time.
At first, I thought it was just back acne? I even tried squeezing it, haha, but it didn't come out.
The size grew larger as time went on.
Since I usually don't get pimples easily, I think this will go away on its own.
I left it unattended, thinking it would disappear on its own.
One day, after taking a shower, I noticed that the part on my back was unusually easy to feel with my hand.
Even if I try, it only hurts and nothing comes out. Sorry for the dirty talk, haha.
When I asked my family, they said it might be a skin cyst.
So I went to the nearby dermatologist because they also examine skin cysts.
However, the doctor said this is not a pimple but what we commonly know as...
It's called a skin cyst, which is a type of epidermal cyst or pilar cyst (a kind of lipoma).
A skin cyst is caused when sebum and keratin inside the skin cannot be expelled and block the pores.
It causes inflammation by clumping together inside.
It looks convex from the outside, and you can feel a round shape when you touch it with your hand.
But since my skin cyst is on my back, they told me to go to the surgery department.
Fortunately, there is a neurosurgery department in the same building, so I went directly to the surgery department.
The surgeon said I needed to cut it out, so I did it that day. I anesthetized myself, made an incision, and removed the skin cyst.
It's unfortunate that I couldn't take a photo alone because I was on my backㅠ
It wasn't painful during anesthesia, so it was okay, but once the anesthesia wore off, it was quite painful.
Since the affected area is the back, sitting in a chair and sleeping can be quite uncomfortable.
How many times do I need to go for dressing changes after the surgery? They told me to apply ointment at home after outpatient treatment.
The picture shows the prescribed ointment. It was 3,000 won.
My experience of dismissing a skin cyst as something minor, then going to the surgery department to have it cut out and stitched up... lol
