Is the Christmas tree dirtier than the toilet?… "Bacteria up to 5 times more" 😫

Oh... no....😫😫

A survey has found that Christmas trees can harbor up to five times more bacteria than toilet bowls.

It's really a plot twist...

I cleaned the tree at home, stored it away, and after a year, took it out again to clean and display it...

It is said that 80% of infections occur through hand contact.

It is important to wipe decorations with antibacterial fabric and wash your hands thoroughly before and after decorating.

I really need to pay special attention 😨😨

After Christmas is over and I put it back, I should also wash my hands thoroughly and wipe it again with an antibacterial cloth before putting it back.

A survey has found that Christmas trees can harbor up to five times more bacteria than toilet bowls.

On the 23rd (local time), according to foreign media such as Daily Mail, the UK hygiene service company 'Initial Washroom Hygiene' recently collected 25 decorative items including Christmas trees, bells, wreaths, and lights from five ordinary households to investigate the level of bacterial contamination.

They collected samples using sterile tools and then conducted precise analysis with an ATP (adenosine triphosphate) bioluminescence reader. This method allows for the detection of microorganisms that are invisible to the naked eye. Contamination levels are expressed in RLU (Relative Light Units), with higher numbers indicating more severe bacterial contamination.

As a result, more than two-thirds (68%) of Christmas tree decorations showed high contamination levels exceeding 500 RLU. In some cases, measurements exceeded 1000 RLU. This is a very high value compared to the average RLU of 220 for toilet seats. The average RLU values for each decoration are as follows: storage box 845 RLU, tree main body 780 RLU, ornaments 610 RLU, wreath 430 RLU, and lights 286 RLU.

The investigation team explained that the possibility of cross-contamination naturally increases during the process of people decorating the Christmas tree together. Responsible person Jamie Woodhall advised, "80% of infection routes are through hand transmission," and emphasized, "It is important to wipe decorations with an antimicrobial cloth and wash hands thoroughly before and after decorating."
