It has been confirmed that a Korean university student who visited Pakistan contracted and died from dengue fever, a tropical infectious disease.
According to the Korean Embassy in Pakistan and other sources on the 27th (local time), Mr. A (23), who is enrolled at a university in Seoul, died of dengue fever at a hospital in Lahore, eastern Pakistan, on the 22nd.
Dengue fever is an infectious disease caused by the virus entering through bites from mosquitoes or other insects. Typically, symptoms such as high fever, headache, and muscle pain appear after an incubation period of 3 to 8 days, but they usually improve after about a week. In severe cases, it can progress to hemorrhagic fever or dengue shock syndrome.
Earlier, Mr. A entered Pakistan at the end of September for personal matters and other reasons.
A diplomatic official stated, "After Mr. A's death, we contacted his family, and his father arrived yesterday," adding, "The embassy transferred the body from Lahore to Islamabad." The official also mentioned that they are currently assisting the bereaved family with preparations to transport the body back to Korea.
