Treatment of endometriosis diagnosed through cervical cancer screening

I found out I had endometriosis through a cervical cancer screening, and since the cyst on my ovary was difficult to treat with medication, I underwent laparoscopic surgery at a major hospital to remove it, followed by a week of inpatient treatment.

About four years ago, as a woman, I was undergoing a cervical cancer screening every two years, and the doctor suggested a more detailed and precise examination. I also had a pelvic ultrasound. During that process, I was told I had a cyst on my ovary due to endometriosis. Some cases of endometriosis can be treated with medication, but mine was large enough that it needed to be removed surgically. I was advised to go to a larger hospital for surgery and was given a diagnosis letter for endometriosis. The larger hospital also recommended surgery, specifically laparoscopic surgery. The surgery was performed through the navel, leaving only a scar there, with no incision on the abdomen. The scar from the navel surgery has not disappeared. I don't remember if I was under general anesthesia or sedation, but I felt no pain. The surgery seemed to be over quickly; it felt like just a moment, and then it was finished. I think I woke up with some pain. I was hospitalized for a week for treatment. Since endometriosis is a condition, it doesn't completely disappear, and cysts can grow back at any time, so I check my ovaries annually with ultrasound to see if any cysts have formed. If symptoms of endometriosis are severe, oral medication can be taken, but I was relieved to hear I didn't need to take anything after the tests related to endometriosis. I used to have severe menstrual pain, which I now wonder was caused by endometriosis. I recommend women with intense menstrual pain to get an ultrasound. Menstrual pain is tough enough, and I still worry about cysts forming because of endometriosis. Although I no longer have cysts, I never want to go through this again. I hope everyone stays healthy.
