It is recommended to visit the ophthalmology department regularly for check-ups. Some cases have resulted in blindness due to lack of awareness. A friend of mine happened to visit an ophthalmologist and had to undergo emergency surgery for retinal issues. If he had been a little late, he might have gone completely blind.
