According to fire and police reports on the 4th, at around 8:40 a.m., a 40-year-old man, Mr. B, who was undergoing a health checkup at Hospital A in Guro-gu, Seoul, was reported to have experienced respiratory distress and cardiac arrest during a sleep endoscopy examination.
Patient B exhibited symptoms of difficulty breathing and decreased oxygen saturation during a sleep endoscopy examination.
The fire department immediately requested police cooperation upon receiving the report. Paramedics performed CPR on Mr. B and transported him to a general hospital in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul. Mr. B is currently receiving treatment in the emergency room but is in a state of unconsciousness. Earlier, a man in his 60s who underwent a colonoscopy at a clinic in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk, passed away.
In April of last year, a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, was found in cardiac arrest while in the recovery room after a sleep colonoscopy at a clinic in Gyeongsan, Gyeongbuk. Subsequently, Mr. A was transferred to a general hospital in Yeongcheon, Gyeongbuk, but he passed away about two hours later.

The bereaved family claimed that the hospital administered an excessive amount of propofol, but the hospital countered that it was at an appropriate level.
A healthcare professional stated, "There are frequent incidents of cardiac arrest occurring during sleep endoscopy," and emphasized, "Patients need to exercise special caution."
