The identity of the suspect who brutally murdered a teenage woman in Suncheon, Jeollanam-do, by stabbing her with a weapon has been revealed.

The Jeonnam Provincial Police Agency held a personal information disclosure committee today (30th) afternoon, decided to disclose the personal information of 30-year-old Park Dae-sung, who was detained on charges of murder, and, with Mr. Park's consent, released a recently taken mugshot.

According to the Act on the Disclosure of Personal Information of Suspects of Serious Crimes, the personal information of suspects can be disclosed if the conditions such as the brutality of the means, significant damage, sufficient evidence to believe they committed the crime, the public's right to know, and public interest are met.

Mr. Park is suspected of killing an 18-year-old female victim with a weapon on a street in Jorye-dong, Suncheon City, around 12:40 a.m. on the 26th and fleeing.

Mr. Park wandered around intoxicated after the crime and even got into a dispute with a pedestrian.

Online outrage erupted when CCTV footage was released showing Mr. Park wandering barefoot and smiling on the street.

Mr. Park reportedly stated during police questioning that he had drunk four bottles of soju at the time of the crime and cannot remember, and he did not provide details about the exact motive for the crime.

It is reported that the victim, the only daughter who recently passed the high school equivalency exam and dreamed of becoming a police officer, went out to buy her father's medicine and met a tragic end.
