Just 10 minutes of exercise... Amazing changes in the brain
Memory and concentration are considered key factors that determine quality of life. To enjoy a happier old age in an aging society, it is important to manage when signs of declining memory begin to appear.
There is a research finding that 10 minutes of light exercise a day can improve memory. According to a research team from the University of California, Irvine, simple exercise enhances the connections in the brain areas responsible for generating and storing memories.
Just about 10 minutes of light exercise was shown to activate the brain area responsible for memory.
The research team cited activities such as walking, yoga, and Tai Chi, which last about 10 minutes, as examples of 'simple exercises.' The team had 36 healthy adults perform these exercises for 10 minutes.
It was a light exercise that only inhaled about 30% of the maximum oxygen intake. The research team scanned their brains before and after exercise and conducted memory tests. Brain scan results showed that even light exercise activated the connection between the hippocampus and the cerebral cortex. The hippocampus is responsible for memory storage, and the cerebral cortex is involved in recalling memories.
The memory test was a type of "spot the difference" game. After showing pictures of everyday objects such as broccoli and a picnic basket, the test was conducted by asking participants to find the identical image among similar pictures.
People who do short workouts can distinguish small differences well
The research team explained, "Even light exercise like an evening walk can improve memory." They added, "Taking a 10-minute walk every few hours while working in the lab or holding brief meetings while walking can not only increase productivity but also improve mood."
Experts say that the hippocampus and cerebral cortex are closely related to memory decline due to aging. This study (Rapid stimulation of human dentate gyrus function with acute mild exercise) was published in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS) in the United States.

I do.
Walking steadily every day is good for your health.
Even if you're busy, after dinner or a walk
I really hope you do it.
