Overdoing it is toxic!… Does excessive intake of 'this food' impair memory? No matter how healthy the food is, excessive consumption can become 'poison'. Over-consuming certain nutrients in the name of health can lead to side effects. Furthermore, increasing calorie intake can make one more susceptible to obesity and various adult diseases. In particular, excessive intake of certain foods can lead to decline in brain functions such as memory and cognitive abilities. We explore foods related to brain function decline.

Overdoing it is toxic!… Does excessive intake of 'this food' impair memory?

◆ Tuna

Tuna is a fish that is often consumed in the form of canned tuna or as part of a circuit diagram, but it is also a fish that should not be eaten excessively. According to a paper in the "Integrative Medicine Journal," fish such as tuna, cod, bass, yellowtail, and sharks that occupy the top of the food chain increase the risk of cognitive impairment if consumed in excess. The main reason for this is the high mercury content. The research team found that people who eat fish with high mercury levels tend to have decreased cognitive abilities. Even healthy tuna should be consumed in moderation.

Foods high in saturated fats and trans fats

According to research from the University of Montreal in Canada, foods high in saturated fats like butter impair dopamine system function. However, monounsaturated fats such as olive oil do not have this effect. In particular, trans fats, which are solidified forms of unsaturated fats, are also harmful to brain health. According to related studies, increased intake of trans fats is associated with memory problems. When the research team compared the trans fat intake and word test results of 1,018 participants, this correlation was confirmed.

◆ Tofu

According to a paper in the journal 'Dementia and Elderly Cognitive Impairment,' consuming large amounts of tofu more than nine times a week increases the risk of cognitive impairment and memory loss. This conclusion was based on a memory test conducted on 719 Indonesians with high tofu intake. Those who ate large amounts of tofu nine or more times a week scored lower on memory tests compared to those who did not.

The research team suspects that phytoestrogens, which are estrogens found in soybeans, may influence brain function. However, this does not mean you should avoid eating soy or tofu altogether. Soy is a nutritious food that contains a variety of nutrients and has positive effects such as anti-cancer properties, brain development, and aging prevention. As long as you avoid excessive consumption, such as only eating tofu for dieting, there is no need to worry.

,........

Even the best food or medicine can be poison if taken in excess.

It is said that it can be done.

Tofu, which often appears on our dining table, is also abundant.

Eating may lead to memory impairment and cognitive decline.

Since it is available, you should consume an appropriate amount.

It seems.
