저 예전에 탁구 열심히 칠때 나도 모르게 이를 앙무는 버릇이 있어서 치아 나빠진 적 있어요... 요즘은 운동 힘들어도 이는 너무 세게 다물지 않으려고 노력해요~
People who clench their teeth, do "mouth exercises" so you won't regret it later.
Daytime bruxism is a condition where teeth are frequently clenched or moved sideways during the day, unlike nighttime bruxism. Although the exact cause has not been identified, experts point to fatigue or stress as the main factors. Muscle tension in the neck, shoulders, or face can also lead to daytime bruxism as a pain response. Professor Jeong Jin-woo from Seoul National University Dental Hospital's Oral Medicine Department stated, "If habits, stress, or tension cause unconscious clenching of the upper and lower teeth, it is important to repeatedly relax the face muscles to keep the temporomandibular joint and muscles comfortable."
It is known that the force exerted during nocturnal bruxism is about 60% of maximum clenching strength. Occasionally, some people bite with even greater force. Because of this, continuous teeth grinding can put stress on the teeth, gums, and temporomandibular joint. All three areas are interconnected, so if bruxism persists, the weakest areas gradually worsen. If the chewing surfaces of the teeth wear down and inflammation occurs, symptoms such as toothache and tooth sensitivity may develop. If there are issues with the temporomandibular joint, symptoms like headaches and tinnitus can appear. According to the British Bruxism Association, patients with bruxism experience headaches three times more frequently than those without it.
Weekly bruxism prevention and relief exercises
▲ Kidney reflex relaxation method
▲There are methods such as strengthening training for the opening muscles.
The kidney reflex relaxation method involves opening the mouth about 70%, maintaining that position for 10 to 20 seconds, and then stretching and relaxing the facial muscles. The jaw strengthening exercise involves opening the mouth about 1 to 2 cm, relaxing the facial muscles, and pressing firmly with the hand from just below the chin up to the top. Maintaining proper posture is also important; if you lower the lower jaw toward the chest and straighten your back, the jaw joint naturally moves downward. While keeping the chest open and relaxing the shoulders, bring the shoulder blades together as if to touch each other and then pull them downward.
