August 12th (Monday) Enjoyed 'sweet and salty' foods... Did it cause the worst change in my body?

There is a trendy phrase called 'dan-jjan' (sweet-salty). It means that after eating a lot of sweet foods, one craves salty foods. The idea is that to truly enjoy the taste, you need to pair salty foods with sweet ones. However, this habit is the worst eating pattern that damages the body. For middle-aged people whose bodies are aging, the risk of disease soon increases. Why do people put themselves in danger?

ย

I also really like and used to enjoy sweet and salty foods, but now I try not to eat them as much as possible. Maybe because of that, I find it hard to eat even a little bit of something sweet or salty. I seem to prefer something plain and savory rather than sweet and salty. Recently, I realize that reducing sweet and salty foods is good for my health.

๐Ÿ’ข I liked 'sweet and salty'... risk of obesity, high blood pressure, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, stomach cancer, and pancreatic cancer

ย

The World Health Organization (WHO) and health authorities around the world advocate for "reducing sugar and salt." This is because excessive intake damages the body. It causes weight gain, high blood pressure, and spikes in blood sugar levels. Middle-aged individuals experiencing aging are at increased risk of obesity, hypertension, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, stomach cancer, and pancreatic cancer. Young people are also at risk; simple sugars such as sugar and liquid fructose are rapidly absorbed by the body, causing blood sugar levels to spike and leading to obesity. This is why countries worldwide emphasize "reducing sugar."

People who constantly add salt... have a 41% higher incidence of stomach cancer.

ย

A recent article published in the international journal 'Gastric Cancer' reported that people who habitually add salt during meals have a 41% higher incidence of gastric cancer. The study tracked and observed 471,144 British individuals with an average age of 56 over 11 years. Salt damages the epithelial cells of the stomach, making it easier for Helicobacter pylori bacteria to invade and increasing the absorption of carcinogens such as N-nitroso compounds. To prevent gastric cancer, it seems necessary to remove the salt shaker from the dining table.

๐Ÿ’ข "Change your 'sweet-salty' habit now"... Break the vicious cycle of obesity and disease

ย

When sodium intake increases, thirst becomes severe, leading to the consumption of sugary drinks. This creates a vicious cycle of blood sugar rise, obesity, and disease. Salt is also necessary. However, the problem is that Koreans consume 2 to 3 times the WHO recommended amount (5g). Efforts are needed to reduce simple sugars, such as using onions to add sweetness. Let's break the habit of adding salt and sugar before tasting the food.

ย

Once accustomed to 'sweet and salty' flavors, it is difficult to break free. The consequences are devastating. Even difficult-to-treat pancreatic cancer is increasingly associated with food-related factors such as diabetes. People in their 50s and 60s, who make up over 50% of cancer patients, must change their eating habits.
